Spooks & Spokes Bike Scavenger Hunt Ride

Spooks & Spokes Bike Scavenger Hunt Ride

We've had a lot of requests for a trail ride.... and well you know we don't just do the average ride, so let's go on a scavenger hunt!

Get your team of two ready for our first, scavenger hunt bike ride through the trails of Omaha.

Details:
Team Size: 2 People

Cost: $40 per team, includes event T-shirt... and maybe some surprises.

Time: 12:00 PM - Yes, we know it's a Husker Game Day and we will have the game on in the brewery (let's hope for an evening game).

How's this going to work: at 12:00 PM, teams will be given a number of questions, this could be like a test, a crossword puzzle, a fill in the blank... you'll find out at 12:01. You'll have to answer these questions to identify the locations you need to go to in Omaha to collect an item, perform a task, or share that you were there to collect points. To get to these locations you will need to ride the Omaha Trail system and possibly a few neighborhoods. There will be no riding on major streets like 72nd, 96th, Center, Pacific...etc. All teams will need to return to Pint 9 Brewery with the items they've collected from the various stops by 3:00PM. We will then see what top three teams have accumulated the highest number of points and declare our winners!

Post Event Fun: Pint 9 beers, The Dire Lion Food Truck, and hundreds of your bike friends for a post ride party.

Registration: Register early, as those who do may get a few more details about the event... before the event! T-shirt deadline is October 1st.

2018 Fall Wabash Ride and Camp (or Hotel)

to Sep 23

2018 Fall Wabash Ride and Camp (or Hotel)

  • Wabash Trace Nature Trail (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

Ride your bike on Saturday from Omaha/Council Bluffs to Shenandoah and spend the night camping outside, in a lodge, or in a hotel room. Wake up Sunday and ride back to Council Bluffs.

Some will camp. Some will get a hotel. Some might even have a friend drive, meet for dinner, and hitch a ride back. Some might make a shorter option, or just ride along for lunch along the trail. You can customize this any way you want.

Mileage:
Council Bluffs to Shenandoah: 45 miles

The ride is very flat. The event is open, so feel free to invite your friends. There are opportunities to stop for food and refreshments along the way. There is no official support. There will be no support, other than what you get from fellow riders, friends you can call, or what you can buy on the route. Some might be making arrangements to have someone drive gear down, but you'll need to work that out among yourselves (watch the event posting for more information on unofficial support).

We will be asking for a donation to cover the lodge rental. Any funds collected that exceed the rental fee will be given as a donation to the trail foundation. However, if you can't afford to give, it's no problem. We'd rather you come and ride.

There will be more details coming, but we wanted to go ahead and get the date on your calendars.

On Saturday, take your pick of 25-, 60- or 100-mile route options and, on Sunday, 50 miles, all cheered on by the most spirited volunteers around. You can ride both days or either day! There will be a bus back to Omaha on Saturday night leaving Lincoln at approximately 6 pm that you can use for a small $10 fee.

To make your ride a safe and memorable one, the routes feature well-stocked rest stops every 8-12 miles and are monitored by a route support team consisting of HAM radio operators, support vans, motorcycle patrol, law enforcement, EMTs, and mechanics from our partner bike shops.

In addition, you will experience an incredible level of camaraderie as you embark on a journey filled with laughter, excitement, support, and a profound sense of accomplishment.
